Weber State defeats Dixie State (09/13/08)

Box Score Dixie State Loses 44-7 To Weber State



OGDEN. Utah (Sept. 13. 2008) - Weber State scored touchdown on its first five possessions in cruising to

a 44-7 win over Dixie State before 8.201 fans in Ogden Saturday night.



Weber State put together touchdown drives of 53. 77. 83. 64 and 63 yards in opening up a 34-7 halftime

lead.



Quarterback Cameron Higgins completed 18 of 23 passes for 333 yards and five touchdowns and running

back Trevyn Smith netted 116 yards on 26 carries.



Smith scored on a 10-yard run and on a 10-yard pass from Higgins in the second quarter. Higgins also

threw scoring passes of four. 37 and eight yards to Cody Nakamura and 62 yards to Mike Phillips.



Phillips' score put Weber State ahead 14-0. Dixie. however. then drove 80 yards in nine plays. scoring on

a one-yard run by Aaron Davies (Spanish Fork. UT/Spanish Fork) to pull within seven points right at the end of the first quarter.



That drive featured a 26-yard pass from quarterback Dexter Hill (Pocatello. ID/Highland HS) to receiver Adam Wells (Kenmore. WA/Inglemoor). which brought the

ball into Weber territory at the 36. From there Davies carried the ball five straight times acquiring the final

36 yards.



Weber. however. then responded with touchdowns on its next three possessions to end any thoughts of a

Dixie upset.



Weber finished the game outgaining Dixie 470 to 282 in total offense. In addition to Higgins' 333 passing

yards. Weber netted 137 yards on the ground.



Quarterback Dexter Hill (Pocatello. ID/Highland HS) completed 15 of 26 passes for 161 yards for Dixie. which had a total of 196

passing yards and 86 rushing yards. including 45 on 11 totes by Davies.



Defensively. Teddy Owens (Pleasant Grove. UT/Pleasant Grove HS) led Dixie with 10 tackles. Punter Ammon Schwab (Bountiful. UT/Bountiful) averaged 42.1 yards on

seven punts. including a long of 51. Ross Doman (Woodbum. OR/Canby) had an interception for Dixie's lone takeaway.
