Patrick Perry

Patrick Perry is in his third season with the Trailblazer baseball program and serves as the recruiting coordinator and coordinates the Dixie State offense. Prior to his arrival, he spent seven seasons with the University of Northern Colorado, where he served multiple roles during his time.

Last season DSU finished second nationally in batting (.340) and finished in the top-20 overall in sacrifice bunts (2nd - 73), on-base percentage (10th - .418) and hits (16th - 609), and 23rd in the nation in runs scored (415) and runs per game (7.7). In his first season at DSU, the Trailblazers led the nation in sacrifice bunts (85) and finished the season ranked 14th-nationally in batting (.332), 26th in OB% (.409) and 31st in total hits (596).

During his last season with the Bears, the 2015 offensive group was headlined by WAC Player of the Year, Jensen Park, who finished third in the nation in batting average (.422) and was the first player since 1993 to hit over .500 in WAC conference play. The offense ranked in the upper tier of all WAC offensive categories while making it’s first WAC conference tournament appearance.

The offense previously led the Bears to a 2013 Great West Conference regular season championship, while producing the GWC's top-three hitters in Jensen Park (.396), Nick Miller (.375) and Colby Harrison (.366). Park also received Great West Player of the Year for his efforts. The 2012 Bears group finished sixth the nation in team batting average, led the nation in triples (39) and finished top 50 as team in eight different categories.  While defensively working with the infielders from 2012-2014, team fielding percentage improved from the previous three year average of .952 to .968 overall.

From 2009-2011, Perry served as the volunteer assistant coach and camp coordinator.  He brainstormed and initiated camps including the Fall Future Bear and UNCO WYCO Classic which now both run in their seventh years.  During that time he worked with the hitters and outfielders mentoring Jarrod Berggren, 30th round draft pick of the Colorado Rockies.

As a player, Perry played at UNC when the program transitioned into D1 competition in 2004. That year he led the nation in hitting (.478) and still holds Northern Colorado single season records for batting average, runs batted in, doubles, and total bases. He was selected by the Boston Red Sox’s in seventh-round of the 2004 MLB Draft.

In 2013, he graduated with his master’s degree in Sport Administration from Northern Colorado and also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Finance. He currently resides in St. George and has a passion for the great outdoors fishing, hunting and camping.
