Michael Gargano is in his second season as the pitching coach on the Dixie State baseball coaching staff. In his first year as the Trailblazer pitching coach, DSU finished the season ranked 12th-nationally in fewest walks allowed (2.70/9IP), 19th in ERA (3.53) and 20th in the country in WHiP (1.29).
Prior to his arrival to DSU, he served as head baseball coach at Pine View High School in St. George (2012-15), and led the Panthers to the 2015 Utah 3A state championship, the program's first state title since 2003.
As a player, Gargano played at Dixie College from 1997-98. He was nominated to the first team all-region for pitching and second team all-region for designated hitting. He was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 17th-round in the 1998 Major League Baseball draft.
In 2013, he graduated with his degree of Master’s of Science in Nursing in Leadership and Management from Walden University. He is currently the manager for care coordinators for Intermountain Healthcare at Dixie Regional Medical Center, and is over the processes for heart failure and ST elevation myocardial infarctions.
Coach Gargano and his wife, Jaime, are the parents of three children - daughters Sienna and Aisey, and one son, Taysen.
