PHOENIX – Dixie State senior pitcher Sam Friend was named Pacific West Conference Pitcher of the Week for games played March 5-11, 2012.
 
Friend held Montana State-Billings over six innings in a start on March 5 at home. He allowed no runs on two hits while striking out six. Dixie State defeated the Yellowjackets 4-0 to split a DH that day.
