For the second consecutive week, Dixie State softball’s Courtney Sherwin has been named Female Athlete of the Week – presented by Northwestern Mutual.
 
Sherwin closed out the regular season by extending her hitting streak to 14 games in Dixie State’s four wins in the Bay Area. She batted .692 (9-13) with seven runs scored and eight RBI. She was 6-for-8 with a double, a home run, four RBI and five runs against Academy of Art. She drove in four more runs against Dominican. Sherwin is third in the PacWest in batting average (.441), fifth in hits (67) and eighth in RBI (44).
 
Those numbers also garnered Sherwin the Hawai’i Tourism Authority PacWest Softball Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks.
 
HONORABLE MENTION
Nicole Chavez (SB) – Saw a 27-game hitting streak ended in the regular season finale at Dominican. Had a sixth inning walk and a critical sacrifice bunt in her last plate appearance that helped DSU score four insurance runs. Despite the hitless game, Chavez extended her on-base streak to 28 games.
