Redshirt freshman Trey Kamachi, the Red Storm’s leading hitter after an eight-game road trip in the Bay Area, has been named this week’s Northwestern Mutual Male Athlete of the Week.
The Kapolei, Hawaii native was 14-for-30 (.467) with three doubles, a triple, a home run, 13 runs scored, and nine RBI as Dixie State took seven of eight games in Pacific West Conference play from Academy of Art and Holy Names.
Kamachi was involved in multiple game changing situations throughout the week, mainly by starting rallies with key hits and walks.
For Kamachi, this is his first Athlete of the Week award.

DeQuan Thompson (MBB): scored a team-high 17 points in DSU’s first round NCAA Tournament loss to Cal Poly Pomona (4-7 FG, 8-10 FT).
Kris Kaplan (BASE): Slugged his first home runs of the year in the Holy Names series.
John Conquy (BASE): won both starts in the Bay Area … allowed four runs on 12 hits in 12.2 innings with 10 strikeouts.
