With baseball’s first series victory in the books, DSU Athletics announces lead off man Chance Abrath as this week’s Male Athlete of the Week, presented by Northwestern Mutual.
 
Abrath struck out 12 batters in 5.1 innings of work in Dixie State’s 9-3 win over MSU Billings on Sunday afternoon. His performance was the third best on the single-game K list behind Mike Dedrick (15) and Justin Prodan (13), both previous occurrences came against Academy of Art.
 
This is Abrath’s first Athlete of the Week award.
 
Honorable mentions this week include:
Austin Bartleson (BASE): He was 5-of-14 during the MSUB series to see his season batting average get to .435. He scored four times and knocked home 5 RBI.
Dalton Groskreutz (MBB): Career-high 25 points on Thursday night at Dominican
Kimball Payne (MBB): Career-high 19 points on Saturday at Academy of Art.
