For dominance on the softball diamond, Dixie State infielder Sheila Gelter has been named Female Athlete of the Week for Feb. 10-16, presented by Northwestern Mutual.
 
Gelter was virtually unstoppable in Dixie State’s four-game sweep of Western New Mexico. She batted .818 (9-11) with three doubles, a home run, five RBI and six runs scored. She was a part of one quarter of Dixie State’s impressive 44 runs in the series. She was 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored in the series-opener.
 
For Gelter, it is her first Athlete of the Week this season. She was also named PacWest Player of the Week.
 
Earning honorable mentions this week:
Taylor Mann (WBB): Mann broke the Dixie State women’s hoops single-game record with 26 rebounds in the Red Storm’s win over Hawaii-Hilo.
Haley Holmstead (WBB): Holmstead averaged 31.3 points per game for the Red Storm, making 36 field goals and 22 free throws, in three wins.
