The first women's cross country All-American in DSU Division II history, senior Rachel Young has been named the 2012-2013 Dixie State Female Athlete of the Year.

Young finished 28th overall at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships in Joplin, Mo., in November. She finished eighth at the West Regional after a fifth-place performance at the Pacific West Conference Championships in Hawaii.

Earlier in the season, Young won a pair of races featuring Division I runners - the UNLV Desert Invite and the Color Country Invitational hosted by Southern Utah University.

Young had a stellar two-year career at DSU and has already left a high standard for the program building under the leadership of head coach Eric Decker.
