George Staheli played two seasons for Dixie College under legendary Hall of Fame coach Sark Arslanian. In 1959, he was an ICAC All-Conference selection who helped lead Dixie to a 4-5 record, including a 33-10 win over College of Southern Utah (SUU) to win the Battle Axe.

Then in 1960 as a member of the “Big Three” (along with Howard Brinton and Max James), he again earned ICAC All-Conference recognition and was an All-American pick who helped guide Dixie to a 3-4 record. That season was also highlighted by a 14-7 win over CSU to again win the Battle Axe. He then went on to play two seasons at Adams State College in Alamosa, Colo.
