Averian Parrish was born in Miami, Florida and shortly after relocated to Las Vegas, NV where he attended Clark High School. He attended Dixie College from 1983-1985. In his freshman year at Dixie he was a 1st team All-Conference and Region member as well as receiving honorable mention All-American honors. Averian helped lead the Rebels to their first ever NJCAA national championship in men’s basketball. He was selected as the NJCAA Player of the Year, 1st team All-American, 1st team All-Conference and Region honors. He also holds the record as the all-time leading scorer in Dixie State’s junior college basketball history. Following his graduation at Dixie, he played a partial year at BYU and then transferred to University of Alaska-Anchorage. During his senior season, he guided his team to the NCAA Division II national championship game. He garnered 1st team All-Conference and All-Region honors and was selected to the NCAA all-tournament team.
